Short Introduction to the B_Tour festival before the Audiodrom

During 3 days, the B_Tour festival offers to rethink Berlin through a series of 17 guided artistic urban tours. The festival begins with the Audiodrom, an audio walk suggesting to discover the Velodrome Park through an acoustic approach. The tour is preceded with a short introduction by the festival artistic directors, and followed with an exchange between artist and participants. A panel in the evening with Christin Prätor (Artistic Director B_Tour) and Yael Sherill (Artistic Director B_Tour) is offered to complete the reflexion.

  • 1The participants discover the park through an acoustic approach.

Before the tour begins, Christin Prätor and Yael Sherill, B_Tour Festival artistic directors, give a short introduction to the festival and the Audiodrom, an atmospheric experience, in which the participants take centre stage. Guided by a speaker they walk alone, one by one, through different areas of the park, they discover acoustic situations which irritate the perception and inspire the imagination. After taking the tour the audience is invited to engage in an open discussion with the artist in which she will share her motivation and creative process and discuss some technical aspects of her work. The tour will also be followed by a public panel talk about urban matters and similar artistic practices.

Tickets for the tour (6 Euros) can be bought directly as the tour begins – a reservation is requested under Booking(at)b-tour.org. For the tour, all equipment will be provided by the author. If they prefer, the audience may bring their own headphones.

About the festival:

B_Tour

Taking a B_Tour is like going on an adventure in your most familiar environment. B_Tours utilize this hybrid form of art to provide locals with a new perspective of their city and enable them to be inspired by it. The festival brings citizens and artists together in the exploration of the city through these artistic guided tours. In 2012 the idea of establishing a festival which explores the format of guided tours as an artistic strategy emerged. The first edition of B_Tour Festival took place in Berlin in summer 2013. This year the festival takes place between August 8-10. It will be accompanied for the first time by a satellite festival in Belgrade, Serbia.

About the tour:

Audiodrom

Audiodrom is an audio walk through Berlin’s Velodrome Park. The Velodrome Park is an impressively singular presence. It is surrounded by tall grey buildings and imposing housing blocks. In this sterile environment, the artificial green plateau with apple trees and wild high grass appears out of nowhere, like a surreal oasis. The participants of the audio walk discover this place through an acoustic approach. They are guided by the speaker's voice as they walk through the park, finding some peculiar acoustic situations which blur the line between fantasy and reality.
