Audience Talk following '675 Small Coral Beads Red as Anger'

The short stories and novels by Judith Hermann capture what we may usually not even notice, but our life is shaped by it: the details of ordinary things, the fleeting moments of meeting other people, the moments of unwitting decisions to remain passive in certain situations. After the show we will offer to join the artists to share impressions in the frame of an Audience Talk.

The Audience talk after the show enables the exchange between the ensemble and the audience members. It´s a space of sharing impressions, questions, perception and time to get know the artistic team a little closer. Maybe questions arise like the following: How does it come, that a Czech theatre group brings German writers on stage? What is important while adapting literature for theatre performances? What are the current trends in Czech theatre and performance?

Tickets: 15,- / 10,-

Duration: 60 min

Language: The performance takes place in Czech and the audience talk will be mainly in English, while translations in German and Chech will be possible.

About the piece

675 Small Coral Beads Red as Anger

A woman feels that time is slowing down. While it is unpleasant, it gives her an opportunity to fully understand what she has. She remembers her friend’s impression when she told her many years ago: “Promise me you will never start going out with him.” When she was fifteen, she was browsing through her mother’s diary in secrecy; and when she closed it, it felt as if it burned her. The birds wave their wings with difficulty. The moon is greasily blurred, a light in a house at the edge of a meadow is shaped like a sharp square. I would like to tell myself that the fear will be gone again, just like almost everything else. The text of the play represents a collage of her work, and the title references the very first short story from her
Summerhouse, later collection.

About the artits

Apolena Vanišová

Director Apolena Vanišová focuses on visual language and its symbolism in her projects. She is interested in the arrangement and layering of scenic images and stage actions, rather then the drama. She works with different types of installations, which she assembles, disassembles and transforms during the event. She works with the material in its original form as well as in its metaphorical form. In cooperation with the visual artist Johana Střížková she examines the theatrical possibilities of electro-mechanical object performances and autonomous theatre installations. She regularly works in the Meetfactory Theatre together with dramaturg Matěj Samec. She also works regularly with the actress Hedvika Řezáčová. Their latest performance, besides the '675 small beads red as anger', is their first performance for children 'Ana Pego'.
