Artist Talk to "The Ambassadors"

„The Ambassadors“ brings you the highest ranking international improvisors. The first diplomatic mission features Jacob Banigan, a fellow countryman of Canadian Lee White (host).

Ratibor Theater

For nearly 40 years, there is a small backyard theatre "Ratibor Theater" in Kreuzberg - one of the oldest still existing Off-theaters from the 70's in Berlin. After a time of street theatre, experimental and political theatre, various theatre initiatives, play developing, hosting guest-shows and much more the impro-group "Die Gorillas" started in 1997 to perform their weekly shows at the Ratibor. With their shows and the annual festival for improvisational theater -- IMPRO -- the theater became a well known meeting point for improv artists from around the world. From October 2014 the Ratibor invites on select Thursdays some of the most renowned and respected improv actors from all over the world to create stories spontaneously and in any artistic improvised way as a solo show or mixed with other improvisers.

The Ambassadors

„The Ambassadors“ brings you some of the highest ranking international improvisors. Host Lee White (CRUMBS, Canada) has traveled the world's improv scene for 15 years and is excited to reveal some of the top headliners with “The Ambassadors”. The first diplomatic mission features Jacob Banigan, a fellow countryman of Sir White and an expat living in Austria. This brilliant improviser is well-known in Berlin as a member of the amazing Rocket Sugar Factory and Theater im Bahnhof Graz. One night, two of the most hilarious envoys of Canadian comedy. About the participants:

Jacob Banigan/ Lee White

Jacob Banigan began improvising at Rapid Fire Theatre in Edmonton in 1990, and worked as Artistic Director there for ten years. In that time RFT launched the long-form show CHiMPROV, and the largest impro festival in Canada, IMPROVAGANZA. Now living in Graz, Austria, he performs with the Nestroy Award-winning "Theater Im Bahnhof". Banigan has created many games and formats of impro which perpetuate around the world.Being part of the acclaimed improv duo CRUMBS from Winnipeg/Canada, Lee White has been performing and teaching improv (almost) all his life. Touring with shows and workshops all over Europe, in New Zealand and North-America, CRUMBS have performed with improvisers all over the world. Lee is teaching and performing in Europe regularly with different projects, namely „No Exit“ with French colleagues Marko Mayerl and Matthieu Loos, as „CRUMBS Garage“ with René Dellefont (Atlanta) and as „Paradigm“ together with Joe Bill (Chicago).
