Artist talk following '#Unstoppable'
Lime Rickey International is shipwrecked here from the future. She performs fictional folk dances and cries out to a homeland that is yet to exist. Lime’s performance score is built under the influence of Arabic maqam and dabke. After the show the audience members are invited to meet the artists and to share their impressions about the dance-song-cycle.
Leyya Mona Tawil (alias Lime Rickey International) is an artist working with voice, dance and music practices. Tawil has articulated an approach to performance based on conceptual scoring for musicians and dancers. This practice has brought her into performances with many incredible artists from multiple disciplines. The artist talk invites the audiences to talk about Lime Rickey International’s conceptual performance scoring, about Arab Experimentalism and interdisciplinary collaboration.

About the venue
Dock 11
The factory level of Dock 11 in Kastanienallee in Prenzlauer Berg is a rehearsals room, teaching studio and dance stage in one. The stage programme has interdisciplinary supplements such as theatre, performance, literature, music, visual art, film and club art – however the main focal point of every performance is on purely dance elements. Together with its other premises in EDEN***** in Berlin-Pankow, Dock 11 has established itself as an important part of the Berlin dance scene. The unique combination of teaching, rehearsal and stage generates an exciting change of perspectives in both the artists and pupils, as well as among the audience. (source: visitberlin.de)
About the performance
#Unstoppable
Lime Rickey International’s #UNSTOPPABLE is a dance-song-cycle that re-narrates particular elements of diasporic realities. Lime Rickey International is shipwrecked here from the future. She performs fictional folk dances and cries out to a homeland that is yet to exist. Lime’s performance score is built under the influence of Arabic maqam and dabke. Lime is joined at DOCK11 by musician Hilary Jeffery and performer Camilla M. Feher. Together they twist disciplines to create a treatise of noise and nation.
About the Artist
Lime Rickey International / Leyya Mona Tawil
Lime Rickey International is the alter-consciousness of Leyya Mona Tawil; an artist working with voice, dance and performance practices. Tawil is Syrian, Palestinian, American; engaged in the world as such. Her articulation of Arab Experimentalism embeds political sub-narratives and cultural confusions into the performance fabric. Tawil has been creating and performing for over two decades. Her performance scores have been presented throughout the US, Europe and the Arab world; and featured in the New York Times, American Theatre and PAJ: Journal of Performance and Art. Tawil is the director of ELIXIR / TAC – an organization supporting transdisciplinary arts and culturally relevant work on a local and international scale.
