Cartography following 'Uli & Ottie'

'Uli & Ottie' unfolds as a multisensorial performance, transitioning into an interactive art installation, casting a spotlight on Autism and ADHD conflict. An exploration of the “otherness” manifested through a sound installative performance. The audience is invited to connect the performance space afterwards with their individual thoughts on sticky notes to open an audience talk.

Using elements like sound, light and glass on the stage, we will go through a narrative to explain different neurodivergencies and the conflicts inside one’s personality. The audience will explore the narrative with the senses and the imagination, and we will explore the feelings and impressions after the performance, opening the stage for an experience with AI. After the performance, the audience members are invited to explore the performance space and measure it by writing their thoughts, memories and questions on Post-Its and sticking them around the performance space. A shared cartography of the individual experiences is created which serves as the point of departure for a shared conversation. Questions about AI, autism and ADHD can be explored as well as identity and conflicts inside a personality.

The focus of the venue, established in 2012, is on the connection between contemporary dance and new music. About the performance

Uli & Ottie

'Uli & Ottie' unfolds as a multisensorial performance, transitioning into an interactive art installation, casting a spotlight on Autism and ADHD conflict. An exploration of the “otherness” manifested through a sound installative performance. Within this enigmatic realm, these futuristic glass genderless beings invite the audience to navigate one's own complexities and resonate the fragility of their form and the tumultuous equilibrium of diverse sides of a personality. The fusion of sound technologies, AI, glass and microcontrollers create a narrative that delves into identity, internal dichotomies and neurodivergence. 'Uli & Ottie' is part of an artistic research project called „Creatures“, which has been running since 2018.

About the artists

Samantha Tiussi, Kit Kuksenok & Geraldo Si

Using elements such as glass, bodies, sounds, technology and artificial intelligence, the artist questions the concept of the ‘other’, creating imaginary ecosystems. Samantha Tiussi, 1983, a Brazilian transdisciplinary artist based in Berlin, with a background in classical music and visual arts, currently works with interdisciplinary performances and installations. She has autism and ADHD, which gives her a special perception of the world, which she explores in her work. Glass, a material often used in her research, comes from her childhood with her father, who worked with glass.

Kit Kuksenok, PhD is a Berlin-based multidisciplinary artist and data scientist.

Geraldo Si began his dance and theater work in 1981 after dance training in Brazil, where he also played in some film and television productions. In 1990, Geraldo Si joined Pina Bausch dance company as a permanent member of the ensemble; in 1996, he founded the x.x.y. theater Wuppertal, for which he created several productions. In addition to his own choreographic work, he works as a dancer and actor with Raimund Hoghe, the Healing Theatre Cologne, Stephanie Thiersch, Vera Sander Art Connect and others. He conceived the interdisciplinary event series "SichtLaut - TänzerischeImprovisationen zu neuer Musik", inspired in his encounter with SupraptoSuryodarmo. He regularly gives workshops for improvisation and "instant composition" for music, theater and dance in various countries in Europe, Asia and South America. And is co-founder of the collective PlaygroundberliM, which performs regularly in Berlin.
