Writing in Response to '0 | - nonverbal communication'
This event is part of A Season of Performance Writing, a series of practical writing workshops for everyone interested in writing, performance, and writing about performance. For the first event, we invite you to join the dress rehearsal of a dance work by Mimi Jeong, followed by a writing workshop led by INTERNATIONAL NOTICE.
If you participate in A Season of Performance Writing, you will be invited to the dress rehearsals of five premieres across Berlin’s independent stages and spaces, ranging from dance to theater. After the show, lively writing exercises geared towards developing your skills, examining your ideas around performance, and writing from a fresh perspective will be facilitated. Sessions, held in English, are led by Richard Aslan and Louise Trueheart of INTERNATIONAL NOTICE whose joint experience encompasses performance making, choreography, writing, and editing. A Season of Performance Writing is brought to you by INTERNATIONAL NOTICE and THEATERSCOUTINGS BERLIN. INTERNATIONAL NOTICE is an artist-led project generating a constantly evolving archive of original and innovative critical writing in response to independent performance in Berlin.
Price for the season is 90 €, which includes the invitation to 5 performances and the writing workshops following each of them. An early-bird rate of 75 € is available until February 15th. (Prices are VAT inclusive.)

About the venue:
Uferstudios_ for Contemporary Dance
On the banks of the Panke in Wedding, new life has sprung up in what was once a maintenance facility for the BVG, Berlin’s public transport company. The garages have been transformed into fourteen roomy studios, as well as offices and ateliers. The site’s past remains visible, and the industrial vibe can still be felt. With inspiration from Berlin’s dance scene and the TanzRaumBerlin network, plus support from the state lottery foundation, Uferstudios GmbH has created a new site for contemporary dance, which was officially opened in 2010. Since then, the Uferstudios has offered choreographers, dancers and other artists a space for professional work in a stimulating environment where openness and participation are valued.
About the piece:
0 | - nonverbal communication
How is a body determined by its confrontation to an inert body? This creation is conceived as a questioning on the influence of distance, physical or invisible sources on the human body in the space.
